Selection Process

  1. Once completed, the students’ applications and essays are assigned identification numbers.
  2. They are then distributed to a group of Blue & Gold board members who are unaffiliated with the school and have only the assigned number as a way to identify the applicants.
  3. Those board members read the essays and analyze the GPA, areas of interest and extracurricular activities of each of the applicants to decide which student best qualifies for each of the named scholarships.
  4. Each scholarship is matched with the appropriate identification number and the committee reports their results to the school, where the names are re-applied to the corresponding identification numbers.
  5. The results are sent to the Canby Print Shop where scholarship certificates are printed with the students’ names.
  6. The students do not find out which scholarships they’ve won until the commencement ceremony where they are awarded the scholarship from one of the Blue & Gold board members or a family representative of a named scholarship.
