How did CHS contribute to your success or prepare you for the leader you are today?

CHS provided a great education while also encouraging students to be well-rounded. The teachers expected your best effort in the classroom while also facilitating involvement in activities and sports. There were opportunities to lead an organization or sports team of your peers. This experience provided the tools and confidence to continue leading.

Do you think school activities have a role in student success?

Activities certainly have a role in student success. Activities give students another focus that might be more fulfilling to them than academics. The motivation they receive from activities will likely improve academic outcomes. Activities also teach individuals to work as a team and that skill is a necessary part of a future job and life in general.

If you could go back and change one thing about high school or college, what would it be?

I am happy with the choices I made in high school and college, but if I could change one thing it would be to study abroad in college. Push yourself out of your comfort zone.

Any suggestion on how a current student could prepare for their future career?

I would encourage students to have conversations with those working in the profession to understand the day-to-day work and overall satisfaction. Consider how the chosen career fits with what is important and fulfilling to you. If there are any job opportunities in a related area, apply and get hands-on experience. Lastly, don’t be afraid to change your path if you find another profession that inspires you.
